CHCA over the years

Our history

Founded in Cambridge, Ontario in 2001, CHCA emerged to address Canada's critical nursing shortage and rural healthcare staffing needs in Northern communities. We specialize in recruiting, training, and placing Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners in remote nursing roles, isolated health centres, and Northern Canada healthcare facilities.


2001

Foundation

CHCA established, beginning travel nursing placements in Northern Ontario communities


2002

Serving Nunavut

Extended contract nursing services to Nunavut communities


2003

SARS Epidemic Response

Provided specialized nursing services during SARS epidemic, managing assessments and quarantine protocols at Toronto Pearson Airport


2007

Northwest Territories

Awarded a contract with the Government of Northwest Territories


2009

Manitoba Expansion

Awarded a contract with the Government of Northwest Territories


2016

ISO Certified

Achieved Excellence in Business Accreditation and ISO 2015 registration, reinforcing our commitment to quality and compliance

Collaboration with Flu Clinics

Expanded services to include workplace flu vaccine clinics for corporate clients in Southern Ontario

Ontario ISC Primary Provider

Awarded Primary Provider Contract with Indigenous Services Canada for Ontario


2019

Multi-Province ISC Provider

Signed with Yukon Hospital Corporation; became ISC Primary Provider in Alberta and backup provider for Manitoba


2020

Urgent Services & Training

  • Awarded ISC Urgent Nursing Services Contract

  • Began training Registered Practical Nurses for Northern placements

  • Managed COVID response services, including swabbing and vaccine clinics for manufacturing companies and major league sports
