What Our Nurses Have to Say

Working in the north has expanded my knowledge of the First Nation history and cultural practices. After 24 years of hospital nursing, I now have a flexible work schedule, endless adventures, and an expanded role of providing nursing care within the Northern Communities.
Being employed by CHCA full time the last three and a half years has fulfilled my expectations. They provide consistent contracts, an awesome benefit package, and a friendly efficient staff that feels like family.

I came to a point in my career where I needed a challenging position with flexible scheduling which also provided a high level of job satisfaction.  Since 2007, I have had countless opportunities to work and explore parts of the Canadian Arctic and Subarctic which most Canadians can only dream of. Working with our First Peoples and Inuit in remote communities is very rewarding, but nursing in the north is not without its challenges.  Canadian Health Care Agency helps new nurses integrate into this autonomous role with expanded skills training, and ongoing support during assignments.

I have worked with CHCA for nearly 10 years now, and continue to because of the individual and personal attention I receive when accepting and working assignments. CHCA’s administrative staff takes the time to get to know each of their employees, by hiring and advocating on behalf of skilled registered nurses and nurse practitioners to deliver high quality client centred care.

Working in remote and isolated First Nation communities with the Canadian Health Care Agency has allowed me to further develop my skills and knowledge in primary health care and emergency care. The experience has been both challenging and rewarding. I have especially enjoyed the relationships I have developed with the communities throughout my years of practice. Overall, my time has been exceptional and I would recommend CHCA to anyone looking to take their practice to the next level.
